Café La Manchuria is a high altitude Arabica coffee grown, processed and roasted between 1,600 and 2,000 meters above sea level, nestled high in the mountains, bathed by the cold currents generated between the Farallones del Citará and Cerro Plateado in the western mountain range of the Andes, regulated by the breezes of the Pacific Ocean.
The Velez family settled in Finca La Manchuria at the beginning of the 20th century, and began to cultivate coffee. The farm has remained in the Velez family ever since. Currently, it is managed by Armelle and Eduardo Velez, who, after living 40 years in France and Mexico, returned to Colombia to develop an Agro-Tourism project, which opened its doors to national and foreign visitors who today enjoy their coffee expertise. They are committed to the well-being and development of our community, being pioneers in the region of good agricultural practices, equity and sustainability.
Café La Manchuria is committed to the well-being and development of the community, being pioneers in the region of good practices of agricultural equity and sustainability. Likewise, they care for the environment by developing processes that minimize the environmental footprint, guaranteeing the traceability of a sustainable and friendly coffee.
Their 90 hectare coffee reserve is surrounded by 135 hectares of native forest and 80 hectares of pine forest, with which we mitigate 5,400 tons of CO2 annually. In addition, these forests are the factory of a large amount of water (600 lt/S) that supply not only the needs of La Manchuria, but also those of the surrounding communities, allowing them to maintain their waters, local flora and fauna as well as many species of birds and butterflies.
The roasting process is carried out in the facilities of their Coffee Reserve, which complies with all the quality standards and national and international norms.
